Jennifer Swanson (Jenny) is an award-winning photographer and photo/video editor, currently working as a photo editor at The New York Times.
She was formerly on the science desk multimedia team at NPR.
Before that, she served as the photo and multimedia editor for Kids Imprisoned, an investigative reporting project about the juvenile justice system. Kids Imprisoned was awarded a 2021 Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, among others.
Jenny is a fellow at the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources and has worked in a variety of nonprofits. She photographed in the Palestinian Territories with the Newhouse Center for Global Engagement and more recently has been working on a long-term project about public land in southeastern Utah. Her work has been recognized by the National Press Photographers Association and has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues including Photoville, the PowerHouse Arena, Light Work Gallery, the PH21 Gallery in Barcelona and the Karl Bulla Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia.
